Biography

Dr. Joel Kiryabwire is a Consultant Surgeon at Mulago National Specialized Hospital and the President, Neurosurgical Society of Uganda.

He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), a Masters of Medicine (M. Med) in Surgery degree from Makerere University, and a Fellowship in Neurosurgery of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (Rowan Nicks Fellow). He also trained in Pediatric Neurosurgery. He is a Fellow of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa.

Dr. Kiryabwire is the Uganda’s Country Representative College of Surgeons of East Central and Southern Africa and was instrumental in the preparation of the curriculum for the Fellowship of Neurosurgery for the College of Surgeons of East central and Southern Africa. He also made a significant contribution in the development of the Master of Medicine Neurosurgical curriculum of Makerere University.
